Dometic has announced recalls of MOBICOOL-branded windows and a couple of its absorption fridges. The company is asking RV owners to check both their van’s windows and fridges to see if this recall applies to them.
If you have had a MOBICOOL window or windowpane fitted between May and November 2022, Dometic asks that you contact its customer support team on 1800 212 121 for further information. Due to a manufacturing defect, these windowpanes may have faulty adhesive bonding of the inner and outer panes. Adhesion can deteriorate over time, leading to delamination.
The fridge recall applies to Dometic’s RUA 6408X two-door 188L absorption unit, and its RUA 8408X two-door 224L absorption unit.
According to Dometic, if connected to and running on 12V DC from either the house battery or off the tow vehicle, a small wiring loom at the back of the fridge can overheat and char. Under these circumstances, if there is any foreign combustible material in the vicinity behind the fridge, it could lead to a fire.
The recalled serial number ranges are:
- MB 82200938 to MB 85100130
- MB 90200892 to MB 95200685
- MB 00100565 to MB 03701182
