I don’t think you can be a traveller, whether that is full-time, part-time or a casual weekender, and not know the name ‘Thetford’. We have used many Thetford products over our many years of camping and caravanning and wanted to provide a review on Thetford’s Aqua Soft, Grey Water Fresh and the Aqua Rinse Spray toilet care products.
THETFORD AQUA SOFT
Aqua Soft is toilet paper designed specifically for RV toilets and come in a convenient pack of six. Aqua Soft is a quickly dissolving toilet paper, preventing clogging within the cassette and making it easier when emptying your waste. Not only is this a convenient feature, but it saves room within your cassette and prevents malfunctions and any potential damage.
This toilet paper is soft, textured and has a simple floral print. When comparing it to a standard piece of toilet paper, we noticed that the sheet size was much bigger, adding to the value.
We conducted a comparison with the Thetford Aqua Soft and generic toilet paper, like the Thetford experiment found on their Instagram channel (@thetfordaustralia) to see how it worked for ourselves. During the comparison, we dissolved a sheet of each type of paper into a glass of water. After a few minutes and a stir, we could see how quickly the Thetford Aqua Soft toilet paper started to swell and breakdown, while the generic paper remained as a clump.
A few more minutes and the generic paper broke into two clumps, while the Aqua Soft only had one small clump remaining. We could see within the water small, tiny pieces of paper that were hard to pick up with a teaspoon, showing how effective the paper had dissolved.
AQUA RINSE SPRAY
The Aqua Rinse Spray would have to be one of our favourite Thetford products. There is nothing more unpleasant than a bathroom that stinks from the second you open your toilet.
The Aqua Rinse Spray is specifically designed for toilets that do not have an integrated flush-water tank and are connected to their central water tanks. Aqua Rinse is a septic tank-safe formula that comes in a convenient 500mL spray bottle. It is long-lasting and provides a protective layer to the toilet bowl. This protective layer prevents staining and saves water as less flushes are required.
The Aqua Rinse Spray is a bright pink colour with a pleasant lavender scent. It is not overpowering and it truly gives that fresh, clean aroma. As a family of four living in our caravan full-time, it is safe to say that we use our toilet a lot, and we have tried many products in the past to try to prevent or eliminate the smell of waste. The Aqua Rinse Spray is truly a tried and tested product that we won’t travel without!
GREY WATER FRESH
When we first started travelling, we never understood the need to maintain and clean our grey water tank. A few weeks later, we were experiencing the consequences of not using preventative measures. The smells that would come up through our kitchen and shower drains were awful. We started regularly cleaning our grey water tank, but it wasn’t until we learnt about the Thetford Grey Water Fresh Concentrate that we knew we could prevent our grey water issues.
The Grey Water Fresh is a concentrated solution that has a strong and effective fluid that prevents nasty grey water smells coming from the drains. This concentrated solution also reduces deposit formations in the grey water tank and has outstanding grey water odour control.
Grey Water Fresh keeps the grey water ‘fresh’ for longer and the discharge when emptying your tank is odour-free.
Grey Water Fresh also comes in a convenient 800mL bottle, with a ratio of 80mL to a 100L grey water tank. An active dose lasts for up to seven days. We have been using this product for over a week now and we no longer have odours coming from our shower or kitchen drains. It’s been great to open our caravan door after a day of travel without being hit by those nasty waste smells.
We hope this review has answered any questions you have about the Aqua Soft, Grey Water Fresh and Aqua Rinse Spray products by Thetford. Not only have we been really happy with everything we have tested but can confirm that these will continue to be regularly used as we travel Australia.
