Good idea or going too far? That’s the question following the release of Elite Caravans’ Murray Series 2, which is the first Australian van to be fitted with an in-built Cummins Onan 3600W generator.
Weighing 83.4kg, the inclusion of this petrol generator is Elite’s response to the ever-increasing trend towards free camping.
“We have seen a big shift in what our customers want in a van,” Elite’s managing director, Adrian Cappola, said. “Now it’s all about getting off the grid and being able to travel for as long as you can autonomously. Free camping allows people to really immerse themselves in their holiday.”
Elite is claiming another Australian first: the inclusion of Cruisemaster’s ATX airbag suspension, fitted to the Elite Goulburn Armageddon caravan.
“Both the Murray Series 2 and the Goulburn Armageddon are Australian firsts, and we are really excited to be bringing this technology to the Australian public!” Mr Cappola said.
