These American beef and cheese subs are perfection in a bun…
Ingredients
- 500 grams beef strips
- 6 hot dog rolls
- Steak seasoning
- Handful of mushrooms, sliced
- 1 red capsicum cut into strips
- 1 brown onion cut into half rings
- Shredded tasty cheese
- Mayonnaise
- Burger sauce
- Oil
Method
- Season beef strips with steak seasoning. Add beef strips and a generous drizzle of oil to a frying pan, and cook on a medium heat until the beef is cooked through. This should take about eight minutes.
- In a separate pan, add a drizzle of oil, the sliced mushrooms, capsicum and brown onion. Sauté for about 10 minutes or until they are soft.
- Combine the beef strips with the vegetables and, on a low heat, cook together for about another five minutes. Add a bit more steak seasoning to the pan.
- Slice the hotdog buns in half, open them up and lay them on a baking tray. Add a heaped amount of the beef and veggie mix to each hotdog bun. Cover with shredded cheese and place in the oven, under the grill.
- Grill the hotdogs for about five minutes, or until the cheese has melted and become golden brown. Add a drizzle of mayonnaise and the burger sauce to each bun.
- Serve… and enjoy!
